Building permits
A building permit is a necessary permission that is granted on behalf of a municipality to a company or private individual to erect a structure or to modify an existing structure. As of 1 October 2010, the building permit in the Netherlands has been replaced by the environmental permit, which is much more comprehensive. A building permit is not easily issued. Private individuals and companies can submit their application for a building permit to environmental services or municipalities (digitally). Subsequently, these environmental services and municipalities must assess these applications within legally established deadlines.
